Spiritual・Awakening! Lemon Descends!! is the 9th episode of the Waccha Primagi! anime. It aired in Japan on TV Tokyo on November 28, 2021.

Summary[]

Up until now, Matsuri had only been having fun, but now that she was taking Primagi more seriously, she came to realize how amazing Hina truly was. The reality of having to compete with Hina in the Fresh Festival makes Matsuri lose her confidence. Wanting to help cheer her up, Lemon tries to repay her for last time. Lemon believes that if a person likes Primagi, then seeing a live Primagi performance should definitely cheer that person up. Lemon asserts this, and gets a ticket to the Fresh Festival in the Moon Area. However, Lemon had been entered into the tournament as a contestant! Carron calmly speaks to Lemon, who has shut herself away, saying that it is absolutely impossible for her to make her debut at the Fresh Festival.

Plot[]

Matsuri goes out for a late night jog and she returns to find Myamu still asleep. She gets a message of support from Lemon and they begin to chat. Myamu wakes up a bit later to discover she has fallen silent, in complete shock after being reminded by Lemon that the Fresh Festival is coming up. She is joined by Lemon, who made the trip from her home town to check up on her. Matsuri explains that her sudden "ectoplasm leak" was caused by nerves brought on by Hina's words recently. It's very important to succeed in the Fresh Festival, as its the last real chance to secure a spot for one in the Grand Festival. The exhibition also helps to find the top five competitors who will be given a chance to perform in a special concert at the end of the season. On top of that, the unlocked coords at the Fresh Festival are extremely rare, so its very important to do well. Myamu is delighted having found this out, but when they discover Matasuri has gone into shock again the girls attempt to calm her; in the process Lemon goes into shock also.

In order to help Matsuri feel better and wanting to thank her for being so kind, Lemon invites her and Myamu back to her home town so that she may treat them with hospitality. Lemon is very worn out as three girls join them just then, and she gets up to introduce them to her underclassmen and friends using their online names. She called them over because they are very good at rating Primagistas and she thought they could point out Matsuri's best qualities, which Myami approves of. She brings everyone back to her "castle" and the girls fawn over her bedroom. They spot the many copies of Primagi Style magazines and as she shows Matsuri the one featuring her, this inspires them to do a play-by-play of a performance she's put on. They shower her with praise but Matsuri remains humble, wondering if she can ever perform the way she did for the first time again. The girls believe she can, since she's only been improving since; but recalling what Hina said causes her tension again. In order to make her feel better Lemon decides to pull out the big guns- namely, she got everyone tickets for the Primagi tournament in the Moon Area. It wasn't very hard, considering the fact that its one of the most least popular in the area, so the tickets are very affordable and seats are often forfeited between ticket release and performance time.

Her friends are very excited as they have never gone to a performance before, and Lemon feels proud of herself for this great feat; until its pointed out that she also signed up to perform. Lemon locks herself away in her cupboard nearby and refuses to step out. Myamu suggests they leave then, but Matsuri tries to convince Lemon that they go to the tournament tomorrow. Even if she decides not to perform. If she isn't confident then she shouldn't force herself- but they should go as fans who genuinely love Primagi.

Everyone takes off and soon evening falls, and Carron attempts to convince her to come out. She points out her skill when it comes to other Primagistas and helping to see their best, but she was hoping that by getting her to try performance even once, maybe she could find more self-worth. She feels terrible for upsetting Lemon like this and she apologizes for not considering her feelings. Carron believes that she has many other opportunities, so she doesn't need to perform yet. They can just go tomorrow to observe her future rivals. Lemon remains silent, surprised by Carron's words as she decides to go to bed.

The following day the girls wait to see if Lemon shows up or not. Myamu doesn't think she will come but her friends remain confident as they go inside. The tournament begins, where it is revealed that Jennifer has come by to check out the various performers take their turn. The girls enjoy themselves but Matsuri finds it hard to focus as she thinks about Lemon, hoping she is okay.

In the hallway Lemon feels sickened but she attempts to keep calm as she approaches the curious Matsurida. She calls for Tanto to lend Lemon a hand in preparing for her debut but Lemon gets uncomfortable as they gather around her. Carron isn't able to understan why she insists on performing in that case, but Lemon wants to despite how uneasy she is. She wants to pay Matsuri back for her kindness, and she realized Carron was right, in that she's become blind to her good points. She grabs the scissors from one of the Tanto and chops off a few inches of her bangs to reveal her pretty eyes, then she confidentally tells Carron to get ready. The Tanto give Lemon a makeover and she gains the Stained Glass coord to wear, arriving backstage as the host announces her to the surprised audience members.

Backstage, Lemon glistens in the light shining on the platform she stands upon and Carron takes her place. She arrives on stage and effortlessly manages to raise excitement throughout the room with a call-and-response, even Jennifer seems impressed as she overlooks the stage. Lemon goes on to perform "KON-NA SEKAI NI TUGU", and with the gained Waccha she performs an Illusion. The audience goes wild, and Lemon is stunned upon the Host revealing she is the new champion of the Moon Area. Her efforts gain a brand new essemble as she basks in the praise and delight of everyone in the audience; including Matsuri, who latched onto Myamu out of sheer happiness and won't release her.

That evening Lemon inserts the coord card into her book and Carron weeps from joy. She holds her while explaining that it was seeing everyone smile that gave her the courage to go on, and she wants to keep making them smile. She is joined by the others who praise her efforts, and Matsuri confidentally tells them that she feels much better now. Seeing her perform encouraged her and now she's more than ready to perform in the Fresh Festival. As this is going on, Jennifer and Hughie observe the girls nearby and express their anticipation to see them go on.
