Hey, Look! It's the Super-Duper Cute Miruki (Heart) is the 5th episode of the Waccha Primagi! anime. It aired in Japan on TV Tokyo on October 31, 2021.
Summary[]
Hina and Miruki are not only active as Primagistas, but also as models. When Matsuri shows up to observe their photoshoot, she suddenly catches the photographer’s eye and ends up filling in for the absent model. Miruki does not think highly of the so-called “protagonist revision” Matsuri, where the main character gets a chance to win, and she tries to embarrass Matsuri with false advice. Amidst all of this, the photographer requested, “Since we’re here, I’d like to take some Primagi pictures”. Only one person can be in the picture. While both Myamu and Chimumu were trying to convince that it should be their respective partners, Miruki, instead of volunteering herself, for some reason declined……!
Plot[]
Matsuri is in awe as she and Myamu arrive to the photo-shoot location with Hina. She admires the various spreads featuring Hina until they notice Miruki nearby, who Hina suddenly recalls is her partner for today's set. Upon being told Matsuri is Hina's apprentice, she suggests that she behave and sit aside. She then proceeds to order her around in an attempt to fluster and distract her, sending her some distance away to fetch unsweetened green tea for them as they prepare. Myamu calls her out for being a jerk but Matsuri reasons that because she agreed to let them observe the photo-shoot it's the least she can do.
The duo return as the shoot begins and some staff worry over the third girl who was part of the shoot being unable to make it today. Matsuri gets chastised by Miruki for stepping foot where she shouldn't be at the moment; quite pleased by how disheveled she looks. But to their surprise, the photographer sees this and happily suggests they use her. Matsuri introduces herself after they ask if she is a performer and they recognize her right away. She insists she's nothing special and she quickly becomes overwhelmed as they lead her off to makeup. Miruki is frustrated over the "thick plot armor" she's begun to see with Matsuri, always getting things due to dumb luck. She detests people like that.
She continues to act friendly by offering Maturi advice after noticing how nervous she is, and Matsuri listens, unaware that she purposely gave her bad advice until she gets called out on it during the shoot. As Hina and the photographer try to relax Matsuri she looks to Miruki, who quickly states that she misunderstood her, saying these were things NOT to do for pictures. Matsuri earnestly believes her, reasoning that she must have been too nervous at the time to fully listen. Myamu is frustrated over this but Chimumu points out that things like this happen in the entertainment industry. While it might look pleasant and happy, behind the scene its very hostile.
Hina assures the photographer that things will improve and they resume. Matsuri manages to do much better her second try -much to Miruki's frustration- and soon they get together for the group shots. Myamu attempts to get back at Miruki and casts magic to summon a banana peel to make her slip, but suddenly the photographer suggests she and Matsuri swap places. This causes Matsuri to slip, but as they check on her to make sure she isn't hurt the staff play back the footage to see that Matsuri has a natural arch that they can make use of. They compliment her and resume the shoot until Miruki notices things seem off-balanced. She brings up how the girl who called off was closer in height to her, hoping this will make them force Matsuri out; but they end up choosing her for he time being, thinking she was volunteering herself. Miruki is left feeling embittered.
A break eventually gets called and she sets her stuffed bear aside. Matsuri approaches her to ask if she can give her anymore advice, but Miruki says she cannot. Its then they hear someone say they feel sleepy, and the girls are perplexed until they realize its Hanitan, the stuffed bear. Hina correctly deduces that she is Miruki's magic partner and they watch as Hanitan's claws come out after startling Matsuri. She tells off both girls for being lazy and threatens to undo her zipper, causing Miruki to plead with her not to. Hanitan chews her out for trying to sabotage Matsuri rather than doing her best to ensure the pictures come out in top form. If a models work looks bad then they won't get much work, so she's not only risking making Matsuri look bad, but herself. Miruki begins to pout and remarks that its not her fault Matsuri is forcing her to do these things, she doesn't like people who get by on luck. Matsuri seems concerned as she hears this but she refuses to speak to her, and Hanitan goes on to point out the important qualities one must have to make it in the industry: femininity, charm, and luck. She tells Miruki to reflect on this and write a report about the lesson she's learned, then she falls back to sleep.
Hina curiously asks for an explanation regarding Hanitan, and Miruki explains that she has a "serious mode", and once she stops its impossible to calm her. For now Hina agrees to overlook Miruki's deception and scheming as Myamu curiously approaches the zipper. She goes to pull it until Miruki warns her not to, saying she'll regret it.
With that they return to the stage, where they are asked to pick a fruit to pose with. Miruki tells Matsuri that if she picks a larger fruit her face will look smaller, and this causes her to choose the watermelon. Once again Myamu realizes Miruki tried to trick her as she chooses a lemon for herself, and she is displeased seeing how natural and happy Matsuri appears to be. She takes her turn but the photographer isn't happy, reasoning that while she is plenty cute, she refuses to step out of her comfort zone and its becoming more obvious. She isn't possessing the passion they want. Miruki isn't so sure because cuteness is all she has, but she agrees to try as he compares the scenario to flowers. While they don't all bloom as beautiful as each other, they are still all flowers, their variety is what makes them special. Miruki refuses to be anything but cute and reasons it is enough to get by.
Afterwards, the staff decide they would like to have one of the girls put on a performance that they can sit in on and take pictures. Myamu suggests it should be Matsuri because she's the most popular right now, but Chimumu argues that Hina has the most viewers. Surprisingly, Miruki takes herself out of consideration, expressing that she hasn't been herself as of late and doesn't think she can put out her best for them. This ends up causing the photographer to choose her. She appears unsure, leading the girls to try encouraging her, with Chimumu complimenting Hina's kindness and Myamu berating the photographer and Matsuri.
At Prism Stone, Miruki seems troubled. For a second. She is proud of herself for thinking of this last-second scheme, having been convinced that it would make them choose her if she said something sappy like that. She embraces Hanitan, who compliments her ability to remain cute and come out on top. Now that she has a performance though, Miruki tells her that now she won't have to rely on tricks to show them how one really performs. She changes into her chosen outfit as the performance hall fills up. Matsuri worries for her but Myamu is convinced a jerk like her couldn't be nervous. Miruki gives herself a peptalk and observes her reflection until arriving on stage, where she performs "Can't Say". Everyone admires her flawless smile and overflowing cuteness. Her performance earns a brand new coord.
Everyone applauds Miruki and she earns the praise from the photographer and the girls; including a hesitant Myamu. Miruki isn't surprised by her success, and she earns many compliments after they leave the performance hall. Hina expresses how excited she is for the upcoming tournament now that she's aware both girls are reasonable rivals for her. Matsuri insists that she couldn't possibly hold a candle to either of them, but the photographer doesn't agree with that. Infact, she has inspired him to do a photo-shoot featuring festival outfits, and he would like her to be on the cover for it. Miruki is left feeling bitter once more.
Meanwhile, in a dark bedroom sits a mysterious girl. She observes Matsuri's performance from recent and gets up, exiting her bedroom with a rabbit following her.
