Let's Do Primagi Together! is the 1st episode of the Waccha Primagi! anime. It aired in Japan on TV Tokyo on October 3, 2021.
Summary[]
Matsuri Hibino is an ordinary girl in her first year of junior high school. As she was walking to school, humming her favorite song as usual, a strangely dressed girl fell on her. Her name is Myamu. She claims to be a Mana Mana (magician), and forcibly invites Matsuri to come do Primagi with her. Matsuri has a desire to do Primagi, but is unable to take the next step. After refusing the invitation and returning home, she happened to watch a TV program and was encouraged by the words of a Primagista she admired. She chooses to do what she wants to do! Determined to do so, Matsuri ran to where Myamu was.
Plot[]
The performance of glitz and magic to entertain the audience, Primagi is very important. In order to succeed, the Treasured must work together with the Earthly. The adult woman giving this speech reveals the Coord Book that belonged to the prior champions of Primagi. She urges the eager students to work hard collecting their own coord to fill their own books just as they have.
As this is going on, a young girl transforms into a cat and sneaks into the auditorium, intent on stealing the book. Her theft goes fine until her grandfather lures her out with a cat toy, then he zaps her with lightning.
Meanwhile, a young girl is singing along to the musical performance she sees on the screen nearby. She would love to be a part of this world but can't find the courage to try and step foot into the large Prism Stone before her. Just then a glowing, gold card appears and a hand pops out of it. Myamu lands on the young school girl to ask if she was the one singing. The girl confirms she is right, leading Myamu to request she become her Primagi partner. Myamu and Matsuri exchange greetings and she explains the importance of her, a Treasured, locating an Earthly like her. She displays her magic ability to Matsuri by attempting to transform into a cat, but it turns out its been sealed. Matsuri initially struggles to believe her, thinking she is merely a child with a big imagination, until she brings up the Primagi Grand Festival. The winner of it can have a wish granted. Matsuri fawns over the previous years winner, Jennifer, who shined on stage with her aspirations of spreading love throughout the world.
With this, Myamu theorizes that Matsuri really does enjoy it. Matsuri begins to think about her dream- until she realizes she'll be late for school. She runs off just in time to miss seeing a blue wolf appear to check on Myamu, who stubbornly insists the Earthly just can't understand her. He reminds her that he can't obtain a Coord Book without a partner, and without that she can't use her magic as she has to collect waccha. He takes off as Myamu grumpily tells him off.
During break Matsuri overlooks her entry form as a male classmate observes from afar. Matsuri's friends show up with the latest issue of Primagi Style, featuring Jennifer on the cover, which perks her right up. She admires her gorgeous attire an they recall Matsuri's admiration of her, then they suggest she try out for Primagi. She's plenty cute, and the deadline for entry is today. She isn't very sure though. Later she gets approached by the young man, a friend of hers named Toma, who has come to give her a pink kitty lollipop that he made. Her grandpa is giving him lessons on making hard candy sweets, and this was something he made. Matsuri happily goes on to make a cat pun before she complains, wishing for a courage magic spell to help her make her first step into the world of idols.
After school Matsuri attempts to go into Prism Stone, only to back out again. But when she hears Myamu up ahead causing another girl trouble she lends her a hand and tells Myamu off for harassment. She tells her to apologize and when Myamu does, she hands over her kitty lollipop after realizing she is hungry. Myamu is charmed by the candy, something she's never had before back at home, and she swipes Matsuri's entry paper. She begins to tell her about the predicament she's in until realizing Matsuri left a spot empty on it. Matsuri tells her that she didn't forget to fill it in, she's just unsure of her dream. She wants to be a celebrity like Jennifer, but she can't use magic and it feels impossible. Myamu criticizes Matsuri's way of thinking and she attempts to clarify how nervous she is, but Myamu tells her to just do it if she wants to. Her dream is to become a famous magic user, and she's planning on doing it at all costs. However, she isn't very good at singing.
Matsuri is momentarily taken by Myamu as she observes her natural glow in announcing her dream to her, but when Matsuri suddenly remarks on how she can't expect an Earthly with no Magi to understand and runs off, she feels frustrated. She returns home to find her grandpa giving Toma his next lesson. They notice her poor mood and her mother asks if she is okay. Just then an advertisement for the upcoming Primagi Grand Festival comes on and Matsuri listens as Jennifer gets an interview. She explains how she loves Primagi very much, and because of her impulsive nature it didn't take her long to decide to aim for the top. Matsuri admires her and filled with passion, she rushes back to Prism Stone.
She finds Myamu pouting and she asks that they compete together, much to her surprise. But upon stepping inside Myamu panics upon seeing Headmistress Fesrida there, until Matsuri introduces her as Matsurida, the woman in charge of set up at Prism Stone. She overlooks Matsuri's entry form and uses the golden card to summon several Tanto-chan, assistants to Primagi performers, and asks them to guide Matsuri. They surround Matsuri and she goes on to make the magical gate to Primagi appear, and after stepping inside Matsuri is transformed with their help, and they summon a coord for her to wear.
As this is going on, the boss of Omega cooperation and Headmistress Fesrida are together, having been updated on Matsuri and Myamu's partnership. They are observed by an odd girl and maid, along with Jennifer, who comes in to observe Matsuri's entry form. They go on to bring up Myamu's large potential as a Magi and warn her to proceed with caution. Jennifer reads over what Matsuri's dream is and she remarks on how interesting she is.
At the stage Matsuri's friends stand in observation of the stage as several girls chat about Matsuri, having never heard of her before. As this is going on Toma arrives in time to witness her "birth" on stage, as remarked by a strange young man wearing a hooded cape nearby. Myamu thinks about her lack of magic, but she truly believes that if she excites the audience enough then she'll manage to overcome it and gain a lot of Waccha. Matsuri feels extremely nervous, but hearing the audience and her friends cheer for her, she encourages herself to step forth and do what she wants. She may lack the power of Magi but she still has the power of her heart to help her stand on the stage. Matsuri appears with some help from Myamu and she performs as everyone admires her. Together they collect enough waccha for her to use a Primagi Illusion.
As she tiredly stands Matsuri observes the cheering crowd. Myamu is very happy as she realizes that even without magic Matsuri still has another kind of special magic. They watch as a brand new coord appears, and the magic overflows so much that several girls notice it has appeared in their own Coord Books. Jennifer is very happy by Matsuri's efforts, along with the mysterious girl who stares in amazement.
Outside, Myamu happily floats around upon realizing her magic has returned to her. Matsuri is also very happy for her as Myamu returns to her and shyly thanks her for her help. Matsuri surprises her by thanking her, and she explains that she had a lot of fun because she met her. She requests that they refer to each other as friends when Matsurida appears, having forgotten to hand over the Coord Book they earned. She also puts the card inside and encourages the girls to keep working hard. Myamu attempts to assure her that they will, only for her stomach to begin rumbling. Matsuri invites her over for dinner and with her magic restored, Myamu summons a broom and transforms into a cat, lifting Matsuri onto it. They fly into the evening sky, excited to begin their new journey.
