Matsuri Hibino (陽比野まつり Hibino Matsuri) is the main protagonist of Waccha Primagi!. She is a first year junior high school student who loves Primagi and festivals. When gets heated up, she becomes powerful. Her preferred brand is LOVELY MELODY.
Appearance
Matsuri's Normal Appearance
Matsuri has slightly curvy eyes of blue and orange hair reaching past the shoulders, along with a braid on the right.
As a Primagista, her hair grows very long with short tuft forelocks, and the color changes into a hot pink color with a peach orange ombre. She gains pastel blue streaks.
Personality
Matsuri is a kind, cheerful and light-hearted person. She has a sense of responsibility, reflecting her maturity, but she can also be very excitable.
Relationships
Myamu
Her magician partner. They first met after Myamu catches Matsuri humming Believe to herself in front of Prism Stone. Desperate to find a partner, Myamu scouts Matsuri for Primagi, and after debating with herself, Matsuri agrees to do Primagi with her.
In episode 04, it was revealed their first meeting happened when they were younger. Matsuri found herself lost in a forest, and she came across Myamu in her cat form, who comforted her when she cried.
Toma Ibuki
Her childhood friend. They have supported each other since childhood, and nowadays, Matsuri wants to push them both to greater heights as rivals.
Hina Yayoi
Before they met, Matsuri already held great admiration for her. After meeting each other, Matsuri comes to learn the hardwork that Hina puts into Primagi, and before the Fresh Festival, Matsuri was shown to be scared and lost in thought because of the difference between her and Hina's efforts.
Lemon Kokoa
Matsuri's rival and friend. Both are beginner primagistas, having debuted around the same time. Matsuri helped Lemon overcome her stage fright, and after her first Primagi performance, they continued to support each other. She's often seen hanging out with Lemon and her friends from the Moon District.
Miruki Amauri
Matsuri doesn't seem to notice her meaner side, often ignoring it and falling for her cute facade. She thinks Miruki is cute no matter what.
Amane Sumeragi
She's a big fan of Amane and is often seen fawning over her, just like Lemon and Miruki.
Jennifer Sumire Sol
Matsuri greatly admires Jennifer; she's the reason Matsuri became interested in becoming a primagista.
Auru Omega
Her duo partner in Techno Magical. Matsuri is determined to befriend her and wants to ensure that she has fun while performing in Primagi.
Etymology
Hibino (陽比野) - Hi (陽) means "sunshine", "daytime" or "heaven", bi (比) means "contest" or "compare", and no (野) is a common kanji found in Japanese names meaning "field".
Matsuri (まつり) - Due to being written in Hiragana, it has no meaning in itself. Her name may come from Matsuri (祭り), which is the Japanese word for festival, relating to her love for festivals.
